Traditional Cast Iron Potjie Pots and Dutch Ovens from Africa
Known in Africa as the "potjie" - pronounced "poi-kei", these cast iron pots came to the African continent during the late middle ages with the Dutch and English settlers. The potjie has co-existed with Aftican culture for centuries, refining this age old pot style. This modern replica is finely cast and fully pre-seasoned for your convenience.

The potjie (cast iron pot), because of its unique design, is the ultimate alternative energy cooking pot available. Because of its tall legs, the potjie is ideal for setting over coals and works just as well over a gas range/burner. Due to its unique shape, the potjie will absorb the maximum possible heat from the source, where other flat bottomed brands will deflect heat unless perfectly level.

Shipments of various sizes are coming in all the time and your order should be shipped within a week.
If for some reason stock is out, please allow time for a fresh batch to arrive. usually 6 to 8 weeks maximum.
Freight charges from Africa are included within the price. You will be billed only for freight from the United States warehouse.

Cast Iron Pot Care
  • The potjies are Pre-Seasoned when you purchase them
  • Rinse with boiling water before use
  • Cleaning the pot - Fill inside of the pot with warm water, let soak and then scour clean.
  • Always dry the pot over a heat source to burn off any residual moisture.
  • Lightly grease with either olive or vegetable oil and leave a paper towel inside to absorb moisture.
